Current Projects
Regional Development in SOuth Omo
After our initial project excursion in early 2026, together with his Eminence Abuna Phillipos and Abuna Germia to Jinka and Omorate. We decided to partner with the South Omo Diozese on a regional development frame work incorporating. Early education, Solar powered agriculture to prevent fuel dependency as well as further development of light manufacturing activities at the Buska Monastery to enable long term fiscal independence beyond the initial project scope.
Biosphere Reserves and Church Forest
With a more than 1500 year old history itself and its role as custodian of the history of the Ethiopian Imperial period and early monarchies in the region. The Ethiopian Orthodox church is the keeper of many cultural and religious artifacts and places. To contribute to the keeping of this legacy and to ensure that future generations can benefit, we decided to partner with Abuna Nathaniel, Abuna Phillipos and the Holy Trinity University. Starting with the restoration and preservation of several ancient books in the churches library.
Sustaining Cultural and Historic Heritage
Since its inception the church has played a pivotal role as a custodian and keeper of Ethiopia’s biosphere and natural treasures. In order to enhance and continue this legacy we have begun work on two key projects. The first being a nationwide inventory of the churches forest holdings, as many monasteries and churches engage in forestry, to enable the church to sell the generated carbon credits, by which the long term engagement can be rewarded continued and expanded.
Second leveraging our past experience with the designation of the UNESCO biosphere reserve in Yayu we will together wit the Holy Trinity University work on the designation of a new UNESCO biosphere reserve in South Omo.
