Exploring the Finance Sector and new digital Opportunities

At the Ministry of Finance, we discussed several macro-level opportunities within the Ethiopian financial sector. With the current IMF regulatory regime and the fiscally conservative policies of the National Bank, several structural opportunities are emerging across the sector, ranging from conventional banking to rural financial services.

We were pleased to seek alignment with the Ministry on a regulatory level and to ensure that our planned activities complement ongoing government initiatives. We left the discussion highly encouraged by the Ministry’s openness to large-scale private sector actors taking a meaningful role in the market. In particular, with the liberalization of the country’s financial sector, Ecopia Group seeks to play a more active role in digital infrastructure and financial services.
