Pioneering the Next Decade: Ecopia Group Aligns with Ethiopia’s 10-Year Pharmaceutical Roadmap

Yesterday marked a historic milestone for Ecopia Group as we solidified our commitment to the African healthcare landscape. In two high-stakes summits with the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI), we aligned our multi-stage pharmaceutical roadmap with Ethiopia's national vision to become a premier hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

In the morning, we convened with the leadership of the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) to discuss the 10-year pharmaceutical roadmap. This session opened the door to world-class research infrastructure right here in Addis Ababa.
Strategic outcomes from the AHRI meeting:
The Industrial Evaluation Group: Ecopia and AHRI have formed a specialized unit to design manufacturing ventures based on critical national-level data.
World-Class R&D: We are officially providing a bridge for European partners to access AHRI’s new World Bank-supported facility, capable of at-scale pre-clinical trials and fast-tracked animal studies.

Our session at the Ministry of Health focused on bridging the gap between current pharmaceutical needs and long-term domestic production. Ethiopia’s achievement of WHO Maturity Level 3 (ML3) has set the stage for a revolution in local manufacturing.

The governments focus on leveraging the purchasing power of the EPSS to incentivize local manufacturing and development.
We secured the support of the Ministry with the development of our investment initiatives in the pharmaceutical sector, to coordinate with regulators and other stake holders such as the various development banks active in Ethiopia.
Furthermore we agreed to sign a new strategic MOU to guide our continued collaboration.
The recent meetings highlighted our alignment with key stakeholders in Ethiopia and sets the stage for our continued expansion in the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector.
